We started the morning last night as Philip and I got the house "Santa" ready. There were only a few key things to do. The children woke up and informed us that Santa had not come to the house. We asked them to look again and sure enough they were delighted to see three presents under the tree in beautiful blue wrapping paper (this is different from the others). We had a little breakfast and then started the grand tradition of watching the children open presents. It was a little harder for Jake who only wanted to sit on things. As we looked out the window the snow started to come down. It was a perfect morning.
Ryan wrote a song for Christmas and he has been singing it the past week. Here are the lyrics:
On Chrismas Day
it's God's birthday.
& Santa com's
& gives us gifts
but Santa nose if
yuo bin bad.
So i love Santa.
These are the words exactly as he wrote them. A few words are misspelled. Enjoy his happy little tune.

Rebecca, Philip, Ryan, Kate and Jake....
Got your beautiful picture and letter today. Thank you for always keeping us informed, as I know I'm incredibly busy and this keeps me from reaching out the same way to you. Sorry for that...but the day only has so many minutes. Jay told me that you called, and I'd love to call you back but I'm afraid to call too early or too late. I've moved into a managerial role at work (clinical supervisor with oversight of clinical billing, documentation and a few interns/clinicians). The only way for me to keep up with it all and do my work for school is to be at my desk by 6 a.m., to leave by 4ish so I have an hour to let my brain rest before heading into class. I don't get home until around 10:30, and then need to spend a few precious minutes with my husband before I can't keep my eyes open anymore. Then, it starts all over again, 7 days a week (the time on weekends is purely for studying) until I get some short breaks between semesters. I'm doing law review this year also, which is taking up any little free time I had before. So that said, I've had a hard time keeping in touch! Luckily I have only one year left, and am anxiously awaiting the time when I have to wear only one hat (legal) and not two (clinician and law student). This summer I plan to work two jobs again, so that I can keep my current position while also gaining some more legal experience. So, hopefully I'll still have some time to wakeboard, which is our favorite summer activity. Miss you all! Give everyone my best....
Melissa
